Bone Grafting or Sinus Lifting

Because of the tooth extraction, the jawbone density may start to reduce after a while. In smilar cases, for a proper implant placement bone grafting may be required. Along the upper jaw the position of the sinus pockets is of crucial importance to ensure a safe Implant placement. If there is insufficient room under the sinus pocket a sinus lifting procedure may be recommended.

Ideally, you send us an X-­ray picture, and our dentists examine your case. After we agree on the treatment, we schedule your appointments and send you the details of your treatment plan. Every case is different, and some of the steps can be combined when conditions permit. Your dental professional will work with you to determine the best treatment plan.

How Many Dental Implants do I need?

The number of Implants you will need depends on how many teeth you have missing. Dental Implants can be used to replace any amount of teeth -  from a single missing tooth to full mouth restoration. Generally the dentists do not make a dental implant plan for every missing tooth. If you do not have any teeth on your upper and lower jaws they will usually advise All-on-4 or All-on 6. If you have a gap where 3 teeth are missing along the same row, 2 dental implants will be placed. These Implants will support a 3 tooth dental implant bridge.

Is Dental Implant Procedure Painful?

Dental implant procedure is a short medical treatment and is generally performed under local anesthesia. When the effect of the anesthesia goes away after several hours, every patient might feel little pain. By taking painkillers, you will experience painless recovery in several days.

Dental Implants vs. Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is an alternative treatment for missing teeth. The look of dental bridges aesthetically the same as the implant treatment at the end. However, dental bridge treatment requires neighboring teeth to be filed down since these teeth are used as the supporting beam for the bridge. On implant treatment, there is no need to file down the neighburing teeth. Therefore, we recommend having an implant treatment if your bone structure is available for it.
