Digital dentistry is a system that allows the design and production of computer aided procedures in dentistry. In digital dentistry, the computer system called CEREC is used in the
measurement, design and production stages. CEREC is a CAD/CAM system for full ceramic restorations. In this system, after the consultation, measurements are taken within minutes by using intraoral scanner. Measures are transferred to the computer from scanner, and a virtual model is created by the computer program as a 3D model. Then the computer model of the tooth is prepared. The designed tooth is sent to the printer’s part of the CEREC device. This 3D design is then milled by scraping it from the ready-made blocks of color and size chosen by the dentist. With this method, inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges and fixed prosthesis substructures are produced from ready-made blocks. It has increased opportunity of material usage that have high esthetical and biological compatibility. However, this latest technology in dentistry has also decreased the error possibility:
